More squalid details of getting ready for publishing

Turning illustrations into high-resolution grayscale (see separate post), I get that. Now my Word document keeps sending my endnotes down toward the bottom of the page. I thought I told them to stay within the 3/4" margin. But no, they had to seep down and cover the page numbers. Other users had the same problem. None have found a solution, as far as I could tell. Maybe they gave up using Word for publishing. What I did was set the page numbers at 0.3" from the bottom (instead of my preferred 0.5"). Now the text doesn't cover them. It might look a little squished down there at the bottom, but at least you can see it.

Up in the Air, Down in the Ditches

Ditches in the salt marshes are my latest focus of research. Very local, like in almost my backyard, yet common along the whole Northeast coast. Historical, from early 1600s settlers, yet early 1900s
